Re: First Hand post
welcome and well played against an unknown.
it helps to post reads on opponents and if you have a question about a particular part of the hand, to stop the action there. |

You're WA/WB here. check-call/check-call/bet. [/ QUOTE ] Isn't WA/WB mostly a HU line? By the turn, we're not up against the original 3-bettor. |

Re: First Hand post
[ QUOTE ]
You're WA/WB here. check-call/check-call/bet. [/ QUOTE ] hmm. kool aid might be right here. i guess it depends if you allow TT in his range, as I usually do. to explain a little more: so, what hands will a generally bad opponent 3-bet preflop? AA, KK, QQ, JJ, and AK? thats what i would say. so, based on the cards we can account for (2 aces, 1 king, 1 queen) that are either in our hand or on the board, we can come up with the following numbers of possible combinations: He could have AA in 1 possible ways. KK in 3 QQ in 3 JJ in 6 and AK in 6. we are ahead of 9 combinations (QQ and JJ) and behind the rest (10). That is basically 50/50. In situations where we are either Way Ahead or Way Behind (WA/WB) and out of position, we like to get to showdown really cheaply and then bet the river to make sure he doesn't check it through. So that is the "standard" check call, check call, bet line. Now, if you add TT (6 combos) to villians hand range, you have 15 hands trailing you and 10 where you trail. So in that case I'd bet the flop as you did. Once he folds the flop, I play the hand against other villian the same way. (did i screw that up grunch?) |

Re: First Hand post
That was exactly my reasoning for the WA/WB line.
The only problem is that I misread the postflop action. The PF 3-bettor is gone, and we are HU against an open limper. Once we are CRed on the turn, I'm pretty sure we're far behind. I'm inclined to fold to the turn CR getting effective odds of 2:10.5, but I'm not sure. |

Re: First Hand post
Your reasoning is enough for me to check the flop. Not sure what to do after that but I don't think we have any reason to lead into the PFR.
Folding this to the turn CR from an unknown is bad, though on the river we are chopping any other ace, we have to hope he is bluffing basically. Still, I pay these off until I have a read. Maybe he has K3! -DeathDonkey |

Re: First Hand post
Well, the river is certianly a bingo for us in the cases when he does have something like K3. But we can't expect the board to pair & counterfeit his hand like that. So calling the turn CR knowing we are behind is -EV. Now the question is, do we know we're behind? What sorts of hands are CRing this turn that we are ahead of, given that UTG openlimped PF? Is he really CRing something like A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]? I doubt it...
