Default Re: Math Proves Probability of Christ\'s Resurrection = 97%

[ QUOTE ]
1. The probably of God's existence is one in two. That is, God either exists or doesn't.

[/ QUOTE ]

The probability that this die will land on six is one in two. That is, Either it'll land on six, or it won't. Since I'm a nice guy I'll lay you 2:1 on this 1:1 proposition, k? We'll play till I go broke.

edit:

W T F. This guy shouldn't be allowed to be a professor of clock potatoes.

[ QUOTE ]

5. Considering all these factors together, there is a one in 1,000 chance that the resurrection is not true. So therefore there's a 97% chance that christ was resurrected.

I read over your post again and realized there was no way you were taking this guy seriously, so I edited my post.

That's why I changed the title to 99.9%. Apparently 97% is his confidence in the estimate of 99.9%.

i envy this guy. he is going to sell alot of books to christian idealists who are looking for logical proof of god's existence. the evidence portrayed in this book will fit nicely in with their daily christian pickup lines.

Much as I hate the thought of defending Swinburne from anything, he did not make that mistake. He has a, no doubt potty, argument to justify god existing more than 50% of the time, its not a deduction from god exists or doesn't. [if memory serves, D'Alembert did makes this error but he was a mathematician ]

Has anyone any reason to believe there are mathematical/logical errors in the rest of his argument rather than just some highly dubious assumptions.
