Default Hands in SB versus Button to steal blinds with

Sorry for the crappy title; I couldnt think of a good way to name my post in a way that describes what my question is.

Im looking to see which situation needs a better hand.

1) You are the Button and its folded to you, and you want to open raise the blinds.

2) You are the SB and its folded to you, and you want to open raise the BB.

Im confused because when you are in situation #1, you hold the best position but you face potentially 2 opponents. In situation #2, he holds the best position but you only face him. Im not sure which situation warrants needing a better hand to attack the blinds. Right now I loosen up a bit more in situation #2.

Also another question I have is, how often do you just complete the SB with a hand instead of open raising the BB? It can be awkward to have to act first when you didnt hit the board, and having to fold when the BB bets behind you. Currently I usually just raise if I want to play the BB HU instead of just completing.

Thanks for any comments guys, and it would be super helpful if you could explain the reasoning behind your strategy.

Default Re: Hands in SB versus Button to steal blinds with

I brought up the same topic a while back:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...v=#Post2739251

I am now stealing a bit more from the SB with good results. yes, the positional advantage of the button is important. but, if you are relying on some percentage of steals to win the blinds without a flop, it's clear the SB is a favorite. On the button, you need both the SB and BB to fold, which is geometrically less probable than just the BB folding.

my blind play on this chart shows the percentages i'm stealing in each position on the bottom of this link.
