Just came back from Casino San Pablo
Over here in California, right by SF and Oakland. I went there because my card room here in Livermore is just regulars and I wanted to see if this casino had tourists and such.
But OMG this place was great. Nice dealers, the chip runners were friendly and the guy at the cage had me laughing as I was cashing out... I ended up playing their $3/$6 hold 'em game at a fresh table and I could only spot maybe one or two serious players, but they ended up being just tight-passive. Maybe it was a fluke, but I made $100 (33 BB) in one hour. I wanted to stay longer but I had promised dinner with my sister and I was just checking it out for future use. Actually this was only my 3rd time at a B&M place, I normally play online, so I was thrilled when I picked up my first tell from a player and used it. I was UTG +1 with 22 when Villain raised behind me pre-flop so I called because of the pot odds. The flop came like 863, so I checked to Villain and everyone including him checked it around. Something like a jack on the turn and I was trying to figure out what he had that would make him check the flop but raise pre-flop, when I saw his hands shacking like he was nervous or unsure about something. I was between him having a big pair or high cards until that tell, then I leaned more towards high cards. So on the turn I bet and only he called, but didn't raise, still kind of odd but possible if he can't fold his high cards. River was a blank so he called my last bet and sure enough showed AK. This was amazing, I actually used someones tell for a hand. |

Re: Just came back from Casino San Pablo
i went to san pablo a few months ago with some friends, and boy was i dissapointed. The felt on the tables sucked, the cards sucked, no automatic shuffling machines...
That being said, the people that played there were really terrible, so id consider going back again |

Re: Just came back from Casino San Pablo
lol okay, but that was just first impression when I first sat down. They were the only ones wearing shades and whatever. But after a while I noticed they barely played and when they did they were just calling and never raising... Maybe they never hit the flop, but whatever.

Re: Just came back from Casino San Pablo
You should've been there during first year and a half. 100+ tables going, the casino literally giving $100 racks of chips away to random tables each hour and only about half of the players knew you needed 5 cards to make a straight.
A bad day was cashing out 1 rack up...It got to the point where actually going to work was -EV for me . But alas, like every great thing, it dried up way too quickly. According to the news this morning they just installed their Bingo-based slot machines today. |

Re: Just came back from Casino San Pablo
Does the 9/18 still go on weekends? The 6/12 is great, but the next step up at my local joint is 15/30; if 9/18 is any good I may take a shot.

Re: Just came back from Casino San Pablo
How does Casino San Pablo take their drop. BB or on the Button for a 3rd blind and for how much.
TIA |

Re: Just came back from Casino San Pablo
Why would that crack you up? If there was nobody to call the raise after me and there were 2 other callers besides me, that is about 7 to 1 pot odds after the rake is taken out. Please tell me where I went wrong if you should know.

Re: Just came back from Casino San Pablo
I only know for $3/$6. It's BB is 3, SB is 2, and the button is 2. When I asked they said they take 3 for the rake and 1 for the jackpot at a full table. I kind of hate that way because I have to pay an extra 3 bucks per orbit then normal, but then I like that it encourages more action.
