Knowing When to Fold \'Em
I was wondering if people would be interested in posting some folds that they are particularly proud of for discussion.
I'm looking for examples of clear (or maybe not so clear) folding opportunities that should at least be considered in the heat of battle. I'll start: Villain is 16/12/6 after 5,000+ hands Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 raises, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets, 4 folds, MP1 calls. Flop: (7.33 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP1 calls. Turn: (4.66 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP1 raises, Hero 3-bets, MP1 caps, Hero calls. River: (12.66 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) MP1 bets, Hero folds. Final Pot: 13.66 BB His capping the turn certainly indicated nines full of fours or the flush, so I needed to hit an A or pray that my flush outs were good on the river. His leading out on the river made my decision that much easier. Thoughts? |

Re: Knowing When to Fold \'Em
I just call the river raise, and then call the river. He could be doing this just as easily with TT-KK or nothing if hes a maniac.

Also, are you good here 1 in 13?
Easy Call in my opinion. |

Re: Knowing When to Fold \'Em
I would never fold this on the river. NEVER. Especially if this guy's aggression factor is 6!

Re: Knowing When to Fold \'Em
I think you almost certainly are beaten but with the pot being as large as it is you should call anyway, better the small mistake of losing a bet here than the big mistake of losing the pot.

Re: Knowing When to Fold \'Em
This is an easy call. As one poster mentioned he could be easily raising here with KK-1010 with an aggresion factor of 6.

Re: Knowing When to Fold \'Em
I think you must call this river. Refer back to Ed Miller's wondeful advice, don't fold for 1 bet on the river in a huge pot if you have something decent.

Re: Knowing When to Fold \'Em
post this in the small stakes forum. REALLY REALLY bad fold imo. A crazy Villian could be playing an overpair like JJ this way. BTW I dont 3-bet the turn here.

Re: Knowing When to Fold \'Em
$20 NLHE SNG on PR
Big Blind is T100 UTG raises all-in for T1100 MP calls 1100 (2400 remaining) I fold J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] with 1000 Despite being in push or fold mode, I let these go because of my reads. UTG, in the same position was a classic rock, so I'd be up against AA-99, AK-AQ only. But what really tipped me off was MP--he was a solid player, but with a definite tendency toward getting tricky (too tricky, actually). I knew he fold all but premium hands here, and he would only limp with something like AA-KK to try to draw someone else in. My read was dead on. UTG had kings, MP had aces. |
