Re: Folded a Mediocre Hand for On more Bet
I think you fold to his turn raise, believing he has an A or the flush. If you don't fold there, then I think you should call the river and at least find out what he had. I'd like to hear how others play this as it does seem to come up often. I sometimes call the turn raise hoping the river brings a Q or a K and that he doesn't have the flush. Once I've done that, seems like I should call the river as well.

He has a flush draw. Can't fold the turn.

I call the river but am not happy about it.

I'm inclined to check-call the turn and bet the river if you improve at all, otherwise just check call again.

Re: Folded a Mediocre Hand for On more Bet
I would bet into button on the flop if you think you would almost automatically raise you, therefore making UTG face two cold. Or are you trying to checkraise the two of them for value? Please explain your reasoning or my flawed reasoning.
EDIT: I think I check/call the river too. |

Re: Folded a Mediocre Hand for On more Bet
Hi ggbman:
I agree. One reason to bet the turn is to fold and save a river bet in case you are raised. But the problem here is that with the Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and the size of the pot, if raised you'll need to call. So a check-call strategy is clearly superior. Best wishes, Mason |
