I'm surprised so many people like the flop check. I think I'd bet the flop nearly 100% of the time here, folding to a checkraise. I'd fold to a stop-n-go on the turn, or check behind if I can. Then I'd probably call one bet on the river if no one else has called (and no spade comes).
My thinking is that I might get a small spade or a 5-outer to fold, and that I can help avoid getting pushed off the best hand by a flush draw. I also feel like once everyone checks the flop, the chance that someone has an A or a high spade goes down. But I suck at poker, so tell me why I'm wrong. It is mostly because these players are so loose and there are too many of them? Would most people bet the flop if there were only 4 opponents? 3, 2, 1? edit: I didn't see cnfuzzd's post before I made mine. He basically sums up what I'm trying to say, but more eloquently. |
