Re: got the details on Party\'s WSOP Package (they are a bunch of crooks)
[ QUOTE ]
I dont think anyone added the fact that they are probably getting a discount since they are booking 1k rooms. [/ QUOTE ] Casino bookings don't work like regular hotel bookings. If Party books 1000 rooms for people to play in the WSOP, that is 1000 rooms of people not gambling at the MGM. Hence they pay a higher rate. If you want the worst rate possible at a casino hotel, tell them you are attending a convention. Paul |

Re: got the details on Party\'s WSOP Package (they are a bunch of crook
[ QUOTE ]
My example was spot-on, because Party's qualifier was billed as "$300+28". It now turns out that Party is, in effect, raking more than $28 from the prize pool. [/ QUOTE ] No. Take a 10 person SnG for $100+$5. One prize. Stated ahead of time. For all to see. 5 day stay at the MGM. After you win, you complain because the prize "is not worth $1000", because you can get a better rate than $200 a night. Get real. |

Did you ask Party if you could take the $2K instead? I played live with somebody who qualified through a Step 6 and he said they agreed to give him the cash after he complained. Of course, I don't believe everything I hear at a poker table...

[/ QUOTE ] Ok, I guess you do not consider MGM as a "luxury hotel". You expected a suite at the Venetian? And of the 5 days you are currently "locked in" with, what do you think Party is saving out of the $1000? And what does the MGM charge for that Friday and Sat? |

Ok, I guess you do not consider MGM as a "luxury hotel". [/ QUOTE ] That is correct (but not neccessary for my points to be valid). [ QUOTE ] And of the 5 days you are currently "locked in" with, what do you think Party is saving out of the $1000? And what does the MGM charge for that Friday and Sat? [/ QUOTE ] I've already posted this information, but since you apparently haven't read the entire thread, I'll repeat it. The posted rates on MGM's website are $149.95 per night. So Party is skimming $50/night ($250 out of $1,000, or 25%), without factoring in (a) bulk discount, or (b) tax. |

[/ QUOTE ] I can't believe you'd even get sidetracked by such semantics as whether or not the MGM is "luxury." Of course they're not giving you the Real World suite at the Palms, and of course they (and the hotel itself) are going to slap "luxury" on whatever accomodations they have. I totally agree with Angus. If you agreed to the terms they provided, then you have no place complaining about those terms being followed. |

I did just go to the MGM site and their rate calendar for "basic rates" are "starting at": July 6th - $560 July 7th - $130 July 8th - $650 (Friday) July 9th - $210 July 10th - $130 July 11th - $130 July 12th - $130 |

Either your logic is flawed, or you don't mind being ripped off. |
