Anyone here who have read it? Is it any good? [/ QUOTE ] It is ok, but there a lot better. Leaves quite a bit to the imagination. I would recommend HOH, Super System 2 (cash games), or Pot Limit & No Limit Poker. |

It has some useful information. The big problem is that it seems to advocate a weak/tight ABC style, which may reflect McEvoy's style. There are better tournament books. Some of the other books by Cloutier/McEvoy and McEvoy/Daugherty are also better.

Anyone here who have read it? Is it any good? [/ QUOTE ] Nope, noone has ever read it. No one has ever posted their opinions on it and this site certainly DOES NOT have a search function in which you could literally hundreds of threads on this book. |

Cloutier/McEvoy do not discuss:
stack size blind size continuation bets However, there is some good info in the book. Ignore the stuff about "draws are death" and "unsuited connectors are just as good as suited connectors" and "I won't stand a re-raise with QQ" and "what do you do if you miss the flop with AK? check." Some of the stuff in the book is WAY TOO RIGID. |

I enjoyed it and still refer to it, good reading just for the stories.
Yeah, it is weak, but it may make you stop and think before acting rashly too. |

You have to remeber there wasn't a whole lot out there besides the section from SS1 and Bob's NL-PL book. There are some very good ideas in the book. HOH yes is a very comprehensive NL book and when the 2nd volume comes out I would think it will be the standard NL reference (standard) for years to come. But I still feel you can get enough out of the TJ book to justify the cost.
