I just posted a topic on Sherlock Holmes vs Keyser Soze and got to thinking about who portrayed Sherlock Holmes best in the films. I have always been a huge Basil Rathbone fan, but just recently re-viewed a number of Jeremy Brett films and may have come full circle.
Any thoughts? PS: Please no comments on Watson, despite the difficulty in leaving him out of the equation. |

I have no idea who Jeremy Brett is but Basil Rathbone was Sherlock Holmes as far as I'm concerned.

Rathbone did a fine job, but if you watch Brett over time and see how he portrayed Holmes, its not even close. His mannerisms, speech, personality etc are so much closer than anything Rathbone ever did. |

Jeremy Brett is fantastic. He made me really like the Sherlock Holmes stuff again.
Is his stuff on DVD now? |
