Where do you play? I've just been a break even player at Stars, but have made money (so far) at Party 0.50/1.

What site are you playing? Many sites have terrible .50/1 games.

You WILL get callers at party poker .50/1. In fact you will have to work very hard to get them to fold sometimes. You should be finding tables that have at least 4 players seeing every flop 6+ is even better. Look for the tabes with the highest average pots. If you're at a table that fold to the blinds more than once an orbit (perhaps less) leave! Find a better fishing hole.

All that being said I'd be willing to bet you have tons more to learn. Start reading these forums religioulsy and posting comments when you disagree or are confused. The answers you will get will teach you volumes!

(I don't recommend posting many new hands though as this is a recipe for cluttering the forum with boring garbage. Only post hands that you think are very confusing and please no more than 1 per day.)

with the .5/1.0 i was playing at absolute... 6 max.. they only have about 2 of those running

party might be the way to go : ) i just feel like i dont ever get paid off when i hit

i probably do but i feel my starting hands are good and i can pretty much get out of many hands .. one thing i'm not sure i have been able to pick up is the ability to play the other players(except in heads up) rather than just play the cards.. i don't see how you can win unless you get the cards

party is leaps and bounds better than stupid absolute. if you have $500, you can start bonus whoring. remember that there are several different party skins (empire, pokernow, multipoker, eurobet, intertops) that all have easy-to-clear 1st deposit bonuses, and you can get another $100 each from the igmpay bonuses.
as far as playing the other opponents, you will get there. you make most of your money in hold 'em on your postflop play. get pokertracker and playerview, it does the reads for you. and get small stakes hold 'em, read the forums, play as many hands/tables as you can keep up with. .5/1 on party is a very beatable game if you take the time to study, and the bonuses will help you while you are learning the ropes.

Do you have $200 at least. Playing .5/1 I would think you would. I would recommend hitting up the GRANNY bonus at Paradise. Also, have a super large roll to pad your move up help psychologically. Here is something I wrote on roll building. Start at the $200 part (Phase 2).
