Am I the only one that doesn't like that preflop raise?

With 3 limpers and 2 posters, I like it a lot.

Me too, but it's so infrequently right to raise a small pair like this -- the posters and big field make this a special case.

Another reason I like the raise is because of the "check to the raiser" mentality of internet play you can often get to see the turn card for free the times you whif on the flop.

I think the reason everyone is telling you to raise the turn is because you don't want to give the field with their 10 outs or whatever the chance to hit it. The pot is already large, so focus on winning it, not sqeezing out extra bets.

I don't see the value in this preflop raise. Can someone enlighten me?

You can use CDC hands to justify any play with any two cards on any street. I still don't see it, and the only times I see hands posted about such things, something hits on the flop or their 1 in 10 chance to set fills up by the river because they hit some crappy bd straight draw. As for Carmine's explanation checking through to see a free turn, you've got a 22:1 chance to set on the turn. Is paying another 1SB up front for the possibility of seeing a free turn really worth it?

In and of itself, no. It is not.

But, there are other benefits of this play. You must add them all together.

Preflop to turn, Hero is 5.45:1 to spike a set.
