Does anybody have any game theory book recommendations?
I tried doing a search, but it's not that easy to find. |

One of the main reasons I'm looking for a GT book is to help my poker game...
I'll look into the one you mentioned, read reviews on Amazon.. |

Re: Game Theory books
If you are interested in pure game theory - check for John Nash's collected writings (he's the guy from A Beautiful Mind).
It was a bit over my head, but still a good read. |

There is little in "pure" game theory books that will directly help you with your poker any more than what you find in Theory of Poker. If you're really keen on the topic, you might want to try to locate Nesmith Ankeny's out-of-print book, "Poker Strategy: Winning With Game Theory". It's about draw poker, but it does a thorough job of applying Game Theory to poker. |

Re: Game Theory books
I found these two to be helpful in understanding game theory, and the mathematics of gambling in general. There is calculus involved in both so they might not be interesting for everyone.
"The Theory of Gambling and Statistical Logic", Richard Epstein. "Game Theory: Analysis of Conflict", Roger B. Myerson. The poster above me hit the nail on the head as far as TOP. You wont get much more value from these books than from TOP, but if you enjoy reading these are suggestions. |

And another copy sold a few weeks back for around this same price. Amazon used seller prices are ridiculous. |

Re: Game Theory books
You're going to want the Bill Chen & Jerrod Ankenman book when it comes out in a few months.
Until then, check out their nine-part series on game theory they published on rgp. |

Re: Game Theory books
It isn't too likely to help your poker game, but I enjoyed reading Prisoner's Dilemma by William Poundstone. It has alternating chapters about game theory and biography of John von Neumann. Talks about Cold War, nuclear arms race, RAND, etc.

I saw part of this reposted someplace, but don't read RPG regularly. FYI: Jerrod told me their book is expected to be out in Aug. or Sept. |
