set of 4\'s UTG
No reads on players at the table. This may be low content, but I'm wondering if there was any other way to play it.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (9 handed) converter MP2 ($50) MP3 ($9.25) CO ($69.1) Button ($53.5) SB ($25.95) BB ($50.65) Hero ($47.5) UTG+1 ($78.35) MP1 ($39.25) Preflop: Hero is UTG with 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. MP2 posts a blind of $0.5. Hero calls $0.50, UTG+1 calls $0.50, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises to $1</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises to $1.5</font>, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, Hero calls $1, UTG+1 calls $1, MP1 calls $0.50. Flop: ($7.25) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> Hero checks, UTG+1 checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets $3</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises to $7.75 (All-In)</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $46 (All-In)</font>, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds. Turn: ($64) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players, 2 all-in)</font> River: ($64) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players, 2 all-in)</font> Final Pot: $64 Should I have folded this preflop? Should I have cold-called the flop, and push a non-spade turn? Bet out the flop? Discuss. |

Re: set of 4\'s UTG
behind the min raise and min reraise, i would be a little worred about calling in case the first raiser fires at the pot preflop again. but with pp's 100bb structure, theres nothing wrong with limping UTG with 44. once you made your set, if you can get all in on the flop do it/

Re: set of 4\'s UTG
The pre-flop call is fine, IMO. I usually lead out when I have a set on the flop and there are two suited cards on the board. After that, though, I think you could call the flop bet and bet or check-raise a non-scary turn.

Re: set of 4\'s UTG
Pre-flop is fine.
Lead out with your set. |
