What size are your databases?

Hi, amirpc. Sorry for the late response. My DB is about 150K hands, I think.

You stupid son of a ... just kidding!!! It is certainly worth a try so I will give it a go tonight and let you know what happens.

amirpc, if you're following this, I am still going to take you up on the offer of the PM, just haven't had the time lately.

Will also try the posted idea of watching what was spiking on task manager.

Thanks to all,
JWP

Bingo -- McAfee is hogging the CPU everytime PV goes to work to update screens.

(Tried the defrag again before this and it didn't improve matters.)

Slavik, how did you solve this problem, or did you?

Try slowing down the rate at which PT checks hand histories. Set the timer to 6 or 7 minutes and see if that fixes your PV problems.

Pull up the windows task manager while playing and switch it to processes. Sort the list by CPU usage and see what is spiking your performance.

For me, nothing in particular leaps out. CPU consumption looks pretty normal. A fair amount of RAM is taken by iTunes and Firefox, but nothing out of the ordinary. Performance is bad even when I close these applications.

PV still causes my Party client to become slow/choppy/unresponsive. Is this normal, or am I alone seeing this?

i had the same problem for a while...i thought that importing less often from PT would help this, but the opposite is true...set your import to every 5/6 minutes, this solved my problems...also, clear out all the folders in your hand history file before starting a new day, this will help the import go faster since it won't have so many hands...
