Re: One for Trix, Nate, Ace-high steal.
So you bet and call down if check-raised, had you been on the button ?
Nope. I likely check-through. As I have outs, maybe the best hand and a great chance of such an opponent bluffing the turn. Peace, Joe Tall |

Hi Joe,
Excellent hand. You made life easy for yourself-- the only street where you had a decision to make, he checked behind. |

Hi Joe, Excellent hand. You made life easy for yourself-- the only street where you had a decision to make, he checked behind. [/ QUOTE ] I've played my weak-ace steals in a very similar fashion, but I'm always stuck on what to do on the river if they bet. It seems that most of the time, if they bet the river, they're value-betting my ass with their pocket deuces and I lose the pot. I know I only need to be ahead about 1 in 4 times to call, but I don't know that I'm winning 25% of the time to their river bets. Is calling the river here completely read-dependent? Good because people know they can't boss you off a hand with ace-high? Bwah? |

Re: One for Trix, Nate, Ace-high steal.
I often just complete the SB in these situations. You have almost no folding equity pre-flop, and if you actually flop an ace you're unlikely to get any action since an ace is the first hand your opponent puts you on after raising.

Re: One for Trix, Nate, Ace-high steal.
What about folding this one preflop? Totally crazy?

Re: One for Trix, Nate, Ace-high steal.
I usually call if I know nothing about the person, just to see what they will bet with. If I have shown the person I am willing to call with ace high or a small pair a few times, I will fold.

Re: One for Trix, Nate, Ace-high steal.
What about C/R on the turn when the board pairs (against a better player maybe)? Some opponents may fold a pair. Against this particular opponent you are getting in another bet.

You aren't going to get much more by c/r'ing or betting an Ace either. I'm raising preflop to get the overlay on my Ace-high as my opponent is going to call w/nearly every hand and I'm sure to outplay him post flop. Peace, Joe Tall |
