Re: Clueless on Chips -Please Help
Interesting. I always thought the casino chips I picked up for souvenirs in LV felt as heavy as the dice chip I have.
I'm sure someone has done this already, but it looks like a science experiment at work tomorrow! |

The whole "heavier is better" thing became a measuring stick when the Chinese 11.5g plastics flooded the market. That just happened to be the weight that they were made once they added the steel slugs to them, and suddenly everyone thinks that they need heavy chips or the chips are subpar. It cracked me up when I brought my Chipcos over to a buddy's house, and he "weighed" one in his hand and said with a look of dismay, "Are these the full 11.5 grams?" Ten |

Ten [/ QUOTE ] LOL... that's funny Just 'cause I had the chips at work and also 'cause it annoys some folks... I weighed 2 each of my custom Chipcos... also added some measurements I had on my samples plus some Slowplayray did... here ya go for the weight conscious: FINS: TFC Chips $1 Chip = 10.44g / 10.39g $5 Chip = 10.43g / 10.44g $25 Chip = 10.50g / 10.41g $100 Chip = 10.64g / 10.42g $500 Chip = 10.43g / 10.42g Average = 10.45g FINS: Samples Just weighed them and here are the results: Buypokerchips.com Archtype $1 = 10.47 grams $5 = 10.40 grams $25 = 10.31 grams $500 = 10.61 grams Apache Las Vegas casino: $1 = 10.55 grams Crystal Oyster casino: $1 = 10.54 grams Homepokerchips.com sample $100 = 10.18 grams FYI: SLOWPLAYRAY: I finally just made the effort to measure them. Here are the results: Paulson (Foxwoods): Diameter = 39.1 mm Thickness = 3.3 mm T.R. King: Diameter = 38.6 mm Thickness = 3.2 mm ASM (pokerchips.com): Diameter = 39.6 mm Thickness = 3.3 mm Blue Chip: Diameter = 39.0 mm Thickness = 3.2 mm Chipco: Diameter = 39.4 mm Thickness = 3.3 mm All-In Chips: Diameter: 40.0 mm Thickness: 3.4 mm And there you have it! - Fins |
