My favorite is "Gyro":
ji-ro or eur-o Most Americans say "ji-ro" but the correct pronuciation is "eur-o". Go to any mediteranian country where gyros are eaten everywhere and ask for a "ji-ro" and they're gonna have no idea what you're talking about.

That's because only pure idiots say "ji-ro".
I sometimes get a kick out of pronouncing fajitas with the hard j so as to sound somewhat like a female body part. Waitresses appreciate it.

On the herb one, the h is definitely there. I don't have the lingo to make this academic, but the h isn't totally silent, it just isn't heavily aspirated or something, but it does have an effect on how you pronounce the word.
