I agree...but Tivo makes watching commercials a thing of the past.

I've recorded a few and edited out the commercials, and the edits are revealing: 42 minutes of program to the hour. About 10 minutes of that 42 is mindless chatter, rank of the hands (?!?), explanation of the blinds (?!?!), your eLoan poker "moment", and exit interviews with folks saying things like, "Yeah, you get beat sometimes. That's poker." Approximately 3 seconds of the show is devoted to an explanation of the non-intuitive structure of the tournament, which is still obscure .
It works out to about 30 minutes of poker per episode. The signal to noise ratio is definitely out of whack. |

Seriously. TiVo will change your life if you watch more than an hour of TV a week. Best purchase I have ever made.

I have a DVR (Unfortunately no TIVO. Time Warner's DVR is definitely the Hydrox to Tivo's Oreo) and it's still unwatchable.
There is nothing captivating about this series. |

And how did they decide that a series of shallow-stack single-table tourneys was the best way to decide the champion? PSI has been a massive disappointment.

I agree. This show is really getting on my nerves.
They only show new episodes 1 hour at a time... they're dragging this thing out until the [censored] super bowl! I've been watching it from the beginning and just this week have I finally figured out what the actual structure is. It's like showing an olympic race on lap at a time... "next week, lap 3". The only thing I enjoy about it is seeing Gus Hansen destroy everybody by a combination of great play and suckouts.
Something that I do enjoy is the taped interviews with players and they explain some form of strategy. I find these educational. |
