Re: greatest year by a non HOF hitter?
Norm Cash, another non-HOFer, had a better year the same year.

Re: greatest year by a non HOF hitter?
It's not as good as some of the other's mentioned, but Jim Rice's 406 total bases in '78 at least makes the list.

Re: greatest year by a non HOF hitter?
1994 Frank Thomas, in 113 games
106 runs 34 doubles 38 HRs 101 rbi 109 walks .353 BA .487 OBP .729 SLG That's cheating. Frank Thomas will be a HOFer (and Helton probably will be too). |

Re: greatest year by a non HOF hitter?
Alberte Belle the year he had 100 extra base hits.
That was '95. You could argue that his numbers in the strike shortened '94 season were even more impressive. '94: .357 BA .438 OBP .714 SLG 1.152 OPS '95: .317 BA .401 OBP .690 SLG 1.091 OPS |

Maybe Guidry's 1978 year too. 25-3, 1.74, 248K, 9 ShO. And he won a game some of you may remember.

Re: greatest year by a non HOF hitter?
I was going to mention Guidry, but the question specified hitter. Guidry was a good hitter. Not that good though.
