A 21inch CRT should be able to do more, my not particularly new or great IBM p260 flatscreen can do 2048x1536 (good for 9 tables with partial overlap) at 76HZ(powerstrip adjusted to max).

My 21" CRT does 1800x1440 but I can not cope with the filcker above about 1600x900, while my 20" flat screen is perfictly comfortable at 1600x1200.

Should be arriving in a few days so will see what its like.
