...the gap is a problem it's a pain to cut [/ QUOTE ] If you follow the instructions and use a jig saw with a thin blade, the gap will be covered by the headliner material and top surface material. You should never see the gap if done correctly. [ QUOTE ] it encourages people to put drinks and food on the table, which is not a good thing. [/ QUOTE ] That's where you politely ask once not to do it and the second time it's no invitation the next game. Also, that's why they make drink holders . [ QUOTE ] How much woodworking/furntiure building experience did you have before you built it? [/ QUOTE ] I had none, although I had a little carpentry background. Trust me, it's worth it to make the table with the wood racetrack. |

Re: The FINAL table.....pics
That's GORGEOUS work, but it almost seems like the racetrack is a bit too thick. If you had it to do over again, would you make it thinner?

It's a total of 9" wide; just under 3" is covered by the rail leaving just over 6" for the chips and drink holders. The total width covered by the leather is 24" wide. I believe it works out just right, but as with anything, each person has their own ideas. |

I thought it might be too wide at first, but once the padding is covering it, it works out well. |

Re: The FINAL table.....pics
That is one sweet looking table. Thanks for posting all the info. I do have one Q though before I begin building my own (which will be a complete duplicate of your work, so thank you)...did you use the padding molding from casinosupply? I did not see it listed among your materials, so I suspect you did not, but I want to order everything I need in one shot. Thanks again, and great work!

Re: The FINAL table.....pics
I like these tables, and I'm seriously considering building one now...
but what are y'all's opinions about cupholders actually installed in the table versus the portable ones you jam/slide under the railing? they both look nice from the above posts, but now I'm not sure... and also, what kind of table did you mount this on? or did you just mount folding legs? |

cupholder thoughts
We splurged on the slide-under style. I got the brass ones and my buddy got the brass AND the stainless ones (all from casinosupply.com) I like the flexibility of being to move seats a little to the left, or right, rather than having players positions permanently defined by a "fixed" cup holder.
Being able to remove them also makes table storage and collapse easier. Lastly, if someone does not want one, they can remove it. To answer a question I had posted a few months earlier - the stainless definitely "hold-up" better and cleaner then the brass ones which already look a little "gunky" in the bottoms, and a little "dull" along the visible parts of the rim. Unless yoy have a teen child who can be made to polish 'em, or if you do not mind spending time and elbow grease, or you are simply DEAD-SET on having the brass ones, I 'd get the stainless. They are actually pollished quite nicely, and look great on the tables. doc |

Re: cupholder thoughts
I HATE the slide-under cupholders. Only queers would use those. LOL.

Nice table!!!! Care to share the plans and what kind of investment youve got into it? Also be helpful to know where you got most of the things to make it. Thanks and good luck
