How much tougher are day games than night games??
I play only on party, and I find that I usually play at night. I played a couple during the day today and found the game to be much tighter. Players took forever to bust out.
With the night games, I've had an ROI around 50%. I didn't place in the two day games today, which isn't the point I know. I'm just wondering if the games really are much tougher, and if I'm only programmed to beat weaker games. this is party $55 SnGs by the way. |

Just a coincidence that it seemed tighter. Remember that internet poker is a worldwide experience. So it is always daytime somewhere and evening somewhere else.

While it may be a worldwide game, there are plenty of reasons to believe it is tougher during the day, US time. One of them is that America tends to have more people with disposable income who just play for fun and don't really care much if they lose, compared to many other countries. So America does supply a disproportionate number of the fish. Second, I think WPT is mostly (entirely?) a US phenomenon, which attracts the newer players who are easier to beat. That actually is probably a bigger factor than the 1st one. My own experience is that there is statistically significant difference in my results for daytime vs evening play. eastbay |

I agree with eastbay that the games are alot tougher during the day than at night. The weekend games seem to have better players too. I hardly ever play during the day or on the weekend anymore because of this.

Thank you. I still find the occasional maniac during my games today, but I feel there is a difference. Maybe I'll move down to $33 when I wanna play day games

Re: How much tougher are day games than night games??
In my experience as well, daytime games tend to be much tougher. I suspect that more "casual" players play during the evening (off work, etc.). There are usually 30-40K people playing during the evenings, whereas there are only 16-22K playing in the morning, early afternoon. The most glaring difference I see is the number of players who go out early at night with mediocre hands, which occurs more rarely during the morning.

yes there is a difference. however, day sng is a lot "better" than day ring games. the day 5/10 holdem on party (10 handed) is "kid rock city."

Players are drunk and high at night.

Re: How much tougher are day games than night games??
Good Point. It's probably even more exaggerated on Friday and Saturday nights.
I found this past Friday night very, very profitable. Now if I can just convince my wife that going out on Friday's isn't fun... regards, woodguy |
