I looked at too much porn this month...
Now every time I open Internet Explorer it takes me to a porn website.
Also, DOS will sporadically open itself up in a new window throughout my time on the computer. I've run the free version of Ad-aware and that didn't seem to help my problem much. If someone can help me I swear I will start looking at porn much less (at least on my computer). Thanks. |

Re: I looked at too much porn this month...
You've definitely picked up some kind of adware or spyware. You might try Spybot, Microsoft anti-spyware, etc. If you can't find what's infesting your computer, a format and reinstall may be the only solution.

Only suckers still use IE.
Do yourself a favour and get firefox. |

Re: I looked at too much porn this month...
start with ad-aware (much better than spybot) and microsoft antispyware, and follow the suggestion to get firefox (for porn browsing alone if nothing else).

Thanks for the recommendations and help.
I do have firefox but for some reason it was down for a couple of days until I did a remove/reinstall. |

It's a hassle and you lose everything on your computer. This is only a last resort generally. Keep looking and trying to find the spyware!
Look through your c: drive and sometimes it's real easy to see what doesn't fit. JMB |

You should run Hijackthis - a free program and send the file to an appropriate forum so they can tell you what to delete.
Might help. |

Re: I looked at too much porn this month...
Run the Adaware as has been suggested. And spybot if you want. But you also need a paid spyware program that prevents browser hijacks and spyware installation in the first place. The paid Adaware version as opposed to the free version can do most of this although I don't have it. I use Spysweeper by Webroot Software and it has various shields inlcuding a browser hijack shield, and it runs constantly in the background watching out for spyware.
And then lay off the porn sites because they're one the biggest causes of spy/ad-ware along with clicking on spam email attachments. |
