AQ Suited Hand
I got A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in middle position..50/1 Party.
4 folds to me, I raise, everyone folds to the BB who calls. BB is kind of tight, I have seen him fold a lot on the turn and on the flop. Flop:K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] BB bets, I call(mistake?). Turn: Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB bets, I call. River: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB checks, I bet. BB shows K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I won with two pair, but I didnt like the flop call at all. What do you guys think? Thanks |

Re: AQ Suited Hand
Do you have any reads on BB? Its a small pot on the flop so if you think he's capable of trying to steal then I like a flop raise to take control . If he only bets when he has something you should obviously fold.

Re: AQ Suited Hand
Tight player betting into pf raiser on drawless board, probably behind to a K or set of sevens. He'd probably check a set of sevens though. He could be betting with TT or 99 or 88, but there's only 5sb's in the pot. I think raising to see a free river is wrong since the pot is small. I think you can fold the flop with raising coming in second. I think calling's wrong.

Re: AQ Suited Hand
With the read you have, I think we can give him credit for having the K, and you have 3 outs + 1.5 for the backdoor flush draw.
Pot is giving you 5.5:1 while you need ~9:1 (not accurate but enough to see calling is not profitable) |

Re: AQ Suited Hand
If BB is not aggressive, I'd consider raising the flop for a free card chance on the turn. You have Ace chances and backdoor flush draw which adds a little.
With a Q coming on the turn, another semibluff is worth considering if a tight BB is able to fold a weak King. It is probably more +EV to just fold the flop though if BB is not very aggressive. Seeing the whole hand and reading the results might be skewing my opinion. |

Re: AQ Suited Hand
Just fold the flop vs this type of player. Against more aggro players sometimes you just gotta call this down the whole way. If that K was a J, I'd probably make a loose peel on the flop here with BDFD.

Re: AQ Suited Hand
read dependent, but against a regular opponent I'd probably fold. Drawless board, small pot. He probably has a king.

Re: AQ Suited Hand
The correct play, IF you're going to stay in, would be to raise the flop. (Folding wouldn't be wrong, though.)
You do have the BDFD as well as your ace, so it would help you most to see a free card on the turn (if BB is tight, he'll probably give you credit for a higher king with your PFR) and reevaluate from there. I definitely fold the turn though - only 4 BB, I've got 7 outs, and BB is not going to go hog wild on the river to pay me off when I hit, so not really profitable. |

I definitely fold the turn though [/ QUOTE ] I don't like the turn fold. You might be ahead here if he's betting something like 99 or TT. Plus, with implied odds you have odds to peel one more. Raising the turn is not bad because: 1. You will probably get a free showdown. 2. If you catch, you make more money by betting again on the river. 3. People are scared of turn raises, so he might fold something that you beat. 4. But it would suck to get 3-bet |
