UI overs in a small, short-handed pot
I just sat down. Do I assume I'm behind or ahead?

Re: UI overs in a small, short-handed pot
Did you post UTG+1? Raise pre flop and bet the flop.

Sorry about that - I did post.
Do you bet out on the river as well? |

Re: UI overs in a small, short-handed pot
First: Don't post past the CO.
Second: Since you did post, Raise pf with this hand. You might take it down there, or at least get it HU. C: As it was played, Bet the flop. |

Re: UI overs in a small, short-handed pot
*grunch*
I think you are ahead and/or could improve w/2 OC's and a GSSD on a semi-ragged flop. You should bet. You might win the pot right away if they both missed the flop and fold. If only one folds your chances to win are improved. If they both call, they might both check the turn and you may get a free card. You have a stake in the pot (even though it is small) so you should not fold and a check let's anyone with a weak draw stay in too cheaply. |

Do you bet out on the river as well? [/ QUOTE ] We gotta see what the turn looks like first. If you are on UI on the turn you may want a free card and then see what the river looks like. |

Re: UI overs in a small, short-handed pot
Dont post there. Raise preflop. Bet flop.
I would assume to be behind there, with the likelihood someone has hit + the chances of someone having an A. |

Sorry about that - I did post. Do you bet out on the river as well? [/ QUOTE ] Hi Aaron it depends on the action but the main reason we bet the flop is we have a gut shot + two overcards and possibly the best hand right now and may win the pot with a bet. How to play the turn and river depend on what the cards are and the other players actions during the hand. I you want advice on the whole hand go ahead and post the rest of it and i am sure you will get replies on those streets also. |

Re: UI overs in a small, short-handed pot
Don't post utg.
Flop semi-bluff looks good. Maybe you can buy the button and maybe you can get a free card on the turn or bet again on a blank and take it down there if your HU with the SB. Jacks and 9s make a lot of hands and draws though, so you might not be able to force a fold on the turn. Taking a free card if offered one is probably better. |

Re: UI overs in a small, short-handed pot
Thanks everyone for the help. I'm embarassed to post the rest of the hand - I'm sure I lost the pot by giving up too soon, after already shooting myself in the foot by not raising PF. Grunch away boys:
Flop: (3.60 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, Hero bets, CO calls, BB folds. Turn: (2.80 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO checks. River: (2.80 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Hero folds. Final Pot: 3.80 BB. |
