Had my ass handed to me, 200NL
Had the worst day ever today. Everything I did was wrong, continuation bets were picked off, my sets had no action, any bluffs were mis-timed, and my draws missed by a mile. . To compound everything, I think I played poorly too.
Please could you comment on these hands, and hence help me set my mind straight - thanks!! (Sorry about the tabs, its now too late to remove them). Hand 1: No reads. Re: Had my ass handed to me, 200NL
hand 1:
pf: good raise, too bad you're 4 to a flop (expect many small pp's here that have called to hit a set) flop: Bet much more than 1/2 pot. i like a full pot bet here. He could have a very good hand or could just be trying to pick off your VERY weak flop bet. turn: Given that we don't know about his holding (due to the weakness of the flop bet) i like this bet and this amount. Good. river: check-call a smallish bet is perfect here. However, since the pot is so large in relation to the little stack that he has left, if you're going to call an all-in why not push? Did you hope he would check behind? hand 2: pf: this a bad preflop call. a-10o is not a hand to be playing in EP. Too easily dominated by anything that comes in after it. Best you can reasonably hope for is a 10 high flop. This is poor, and you should stop limping with this immediately. flop: Good bet, but when a passive player raises you need to watch out. i call his raise but, turn: i check call turn. Betting into a loose/passive who has raised your flop bet is suicide. Check calling keeps the pot smaller, and there's a chance he'll check behind (not very large however) BUT betting here and getting raised again this is a clear and good fold. river: check-call a reasonable bet here overall: your hand has showdown value, but is not one that you want in a large pot, its too vulnerable. Oh, and stop playing a-10 in EP hand 3: pf: good flop: good bet turn: good check-call (this is a great line for 2 pair) river: yuck. Why bet out here? Why check-call turn just to lead river and fold to a raise? If you can't stand a raise on the river then check! I check-call this river as well, as before you have showdown value but not much, keep it cheap. |

Oh, and stop playing a-10 in EP [/ QUOTE ] Ugh. I didnt even think about this until you mentioned it. Just shows how clouded my judgement is.. Thanks for your time crosse, some poker soul-searching is needed before I play again. Ojo_Rojo |

I don't understand why you lead the turn with your Kings.
