Lost with 77
I have a hard time with these unimproved pocket pairs heads up. What's a better line here?

Re: Lost with 77
Looks good. I might consider c/r the flop vs an aggressive villian.

Re: Lost with 77
I won't question your play preflop or on the flop because betting and raising decisions aren't important in response to your post.
I would however like to address the issue of "protecting your medium pairs heads up" as you say. Are you saying you would like to find a way to get this villain to fold his overcards so you can win right away? If you are, then you are going about poker the wrong way. You make money by having an edge is as many situations as possible. Even if both players have the correct odds to continue in a hand, one player will always have the best of it. In this situation, it's you. |

Re: Lost with 77
I think you are going to have a hard time getting the villain to fold in this situation. He has 8.5-1 on his call. He usually will call with over cards. Just a bad turn. Good fold.

Re: Lost with 77
I wasn't asking about protecting my pair, I was asking about playing my pair. I never used the word protect at all.
Please, by all means, comment on preflop or flop bets, I can only learn from them. I have a hard time with hands like this. I just wanted to make sure my flop donk and turn bet/fold were correct. |

Flop C/R is a better play here IMO. Turn is pretty standard.

The way you played the hand isn't correct/incorrect. Maybe you missed a small bet, but no more. I personally would have check raised the flop considering PF raiser had the initiative, but in this particluar hand, we both get victimized by the horrendous turn card. |
