AK hand with all in reraise back
This guy had raised 3bb with 97s so I was not too concerned with his raise, so I just doubled it. I still had plenty of chips if I lay this down, but he could be on stonecold bluff as well.

Re: AK hand with all in reraise back
Don't minraise. Make it more like 800 to go so you know it will be 3 handed at most.
I can't see myself not calling this, especially given your read of him. I think I'd probably call without a read too, especially if I had raised 800 I'd be pretty much committed. |

Re: AK hand with all in reraise back
This early in the tournament, I call. Judging from his chip stack and the low level he has either caught a good run of cards or is bullying. Most likely the later. So call and cros your fingers.

A Raise of 2x the initial raise gives of the impression that you typically play limit....don't fell confortable putting all your chips on the line? I'm not saying that is you.. Thus the reason he pushed....Didn't think you could call. Anyone agree with the limit connection? |

Re: AK hand with all in reraise back
I personally never thought of it that way, but I suppose it's possible.
My recommendation is primarily concerned with making sure you isolate UTG and rep a strong hand. Generally, until very late stages (ITM) min raising is just bad, it's a weak thing to do. You want to build a pot and see a flop against UTG, not get lots of callers or 1 caller for a small pot (both bad). |

Re: AK hand with all in reraise back
you may have something there as far as what he thought, but I was thinking that is a 4BB reraise to 8BB. That would seem to be enough.
I think that the other thing that has to be remembered here is AK is a great hand suited even better, BUT it is not unbeatable and it is not the best hand PF all the time. I believe that there are far too many people out there that think I have to play AK for all my chips, and at times this is absolutely correct, like when your stack size in relationship to blinds is very small, or you want to isolate a short stack to play heads up. But it is possible that this person did wake up with AA, KK or any other pair, in which case you are behind, albeit you might be just a small dog to a very large dog, is there really a need to push your chips here in this situation with your remaining stack size? |

Re: AK hand with all in reraise back
I'd reraise to 600 rather than 400 and really put some pressure on him.
I would think he doesn't have AA or KK since he shoved his chips all in. I call with my AK expecting to see 99-QQ from villain. |

[/ QUOTE ] Exactly, villian would want to see the flop with a hand he knows probably has you beat. He doesnt want you folding to his push. It's possible that villian has AA/KK...but you can't see monsters under teh bed in tourneys. This is one of those times you will have to play AK for all your chips. Folding to his push not only makes you look weak tight, but you're already committed. You threw in 1/4 your stack and then fold? Bad. |
