Re: open completing in the SB
I used to think no, but I changed my mind. You're also getting even odds on a steal attempt, but some people won't fold their BB preflop often enough in this situation. Instead, you can complete and lead any flop, where they're much more open to folding. It costs the same, and it may work better against some opponents.

Excuse my ignorance, but would anyone explain what open completing from the SB means?

Re: open completing in the SB
I have played some heads up poker at UB, live and even tried it on party (love those opponents ). While completing the bb wouldn't really be the same as limping from button in a correct hu structured game, I can say that I didn't get my HU winrate by completing pf...
OTOH this really depends on what errors the opponent tend to make. Against an opponent who is extremely loose passive preflop and passive/predictable postflop, I wouldn't raise with the bottom 50%, but would complete with everything. But usually (ie against the typical opponents) I'm open raising here 99% of the time... As a side note, if a SB open limps when I have the BB, I will raise any two. EDIT - usually that is |
