party 500K bustout hand
With about 160 people left in the Party tourney, I had 11000 in chips at the 750/1500 level. We were in the money, but far from the final table. Two orbits went by, and I pushed in once per orbit, so I was maintaining my stack.
The blinds went up to 1000/2000, and I was blinded down to 9000. Then a hand came up in which a tight player raised to 5000, two spots off the button. He had only about 13000 chips, so he was obviously in blind trouble as well. However, he had not raised in a very long time. I had A3o in the small blind. Is this a spot where I should commit? Or should I hope to push in within the next orbit? |

Re: party 500K bustout hand
Fold.. The raise is suspicious from the short stack, looks like he has a big hand. Also, I don't like A-x in these spots, especially a weak one like A-3... Very few will call with King High. I'd rather go all-in with a suited connecter or one-gapper and improve your chances of two live cards. |

Re: party 500K bustout hand
This is a clear fold. You have to respect the smallish cutoff raise from a guy who'd normally push allin in this spot. Also your hand is only A3, and your stack is still big enough so that you have fold equity over your next several hands to successfully steal with marginal hands.

I knew he was committed, but I thought "Maybe he has KQ" so I pushed. He had AA.
You were all correct. |
