77 in BB
Hero 77 in BB
MP2 raises, MP3 calls, Hero calls. Pot: 3 BB Flop: [ Kh 8h 8c ] Hero checks, MP2 bets, MP3 calls, Hero folds. I called with the intention of hitting a set. Since I didn't, I folded. Is an exploratory checkraise ok here? |

Re: 77 in BB
Any reads? Against unknowns, I'd probably muck.
If I know MP2 is steal-happy and MP3 is a passive, I'd throw a C/R down. If 3-bet on the flop, I call and fold the turn UI. If only one opponent calls the raise, then I fire again on a turn blank. |

Re: 77 in BB
Depends on the PF raiser. If MP2 was a thinking TAG that looks to be stealing and MP3 was a calling station, I would Checkraise here. MP2 would think "Well he must have the goods because he checkraised BOTH of us" and MP3 would be thinking "Choooo Chooooooooo!" Is my thinking right other guys that frequent SS?

Re: 77 in BB
Sometimes here I'll just call the flop and see what the turn brings.
Give us some idea of what the opponents are like and you'll get better responses on this one. |

Re: 77 in BB
You are getting 5.5:1 on the call, but need roughly 8:1 to hit your set on the flop. So, if you strategy is hit set or fold, you are losing money by calling here.

So, if you strategy is hit set or fold, you are losing money by calling here. [/ QUOTE ] Generally speaking 3-handed holding medium pocket pairs that strategy sucks. I'm not saying in this or other specific hands you shouldn't let it go but certainly you don't need to hit a set to win with 77 against two opponents. |
