Question about a floor call
i was playing 5/10nl when this hand came up. I was not in this hand however i would like to know what people think of this ruling. 2 players are heads up with the flop coming 4jk all hearts. Player a checks and then player b goes all-in for $600. Player a sits there and doesn't do anything for a while and then his friend sitting right next to him encourages him to call because he knows that player b is on the nut draw. Player a sits there and says your right i call and flips over jk no heart. Player b is outraged and demands that the hand be dead since he was enticed by his friend to call his bet. No heart came and the pot was awarded to player a. The floor was called and they let the hand stand as is. Just wanted to get some feedback, is this ruling correct?

Re: Question about a floor call
The ruling is correct, but some sort of warning or penalty should be made to the player who said he was on the nut draw. What that penalty is; I have no idea. It's probably a slap on the wrist the first time, and something more severe if it's habitual.
Think about it: Suppose player A and player B are involved in a pot, and I'm in no way related to either player. player A checks, and player B pushes. Then I blurt out "player B is definitely on a nut draw; player A-Call with anything!" Should player A's hand now be declared dead? Of course not--ultimately it's still his money and his decision. He didn't solicit advice, and shouldn't be penalized by my big mouth. Garland |

Re: Question about a floor call
Although this is true, last time I was at a casino a person (happened to be a friend) was involved in a hand and was faced by an all in bet.
Being the idiot I am, I said, "come on wilson!" As though cheerleading gains you points. Another guy, NOT INVOLVED IN THE HAND, (althogh purportedly an ass) called the floor. Nothing was done against me, and the floor misintrepreted the situation anyway, but I was warned talking at all to players involved in a hand is not supposed to happen (which I didn't know/) |
