Flopped pair and nut flush draw.
People annoy me with these .5 raises. Sometimes I will call it with a hand I would usually fold in this position because it annoys me when people play big hands like this. Im not really sure how to play these big drawing hands. Should I have taken a free card on the turn?

[/ QUOTE ] Ok, I don't think you should be calling raises with crap hands just because they annoy you, especially in early/middle position. Anyway, onto the hand. Your raise on the flop bought you the free card, so take it. |

Re: Flopped pair and nut flush draw.
If I weren't in early position & exposing myself to an easy reraise, I make this call quite a bit preflop. Another cold-caller in front and it's near 100%. It has nothing to do with annoyance; a minraise UTG like that is pleading to be stacked by a quality speculative hand.
Postflop, I agree with the above poster, barring a strong read that this guy will muck to the second barrel in a pot this large. Your play was successful; take the card. |

Re: Flopped pair and nut flush draw.
Depending on the table dynamic, the pre-flop call isn't too bad. I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] the flop raise, but you really need to take the free card and check behind on the turn.

Re: Flopped pair and nut flush draw.
I like the raise on the flop --- i might raise a little more tho to really try to push him off his hand or get all-in
once you are called tho on the flop I think you need to assume that you are beat and need to improve ... thus i think you need to check behind on the turn getting to the river unimproved i would check/fold btw: i think the pre-flop call is fine given stack sizes and position |

Re: Flopped pair and nut flush draw.
yes check the turn. free cards are good when you're behind and drawing.
Just be glad you're not 'that guy' who gets a pair and a flush draw and think they're ahead and push ASAP. WTF? You are a slight favorite, maybe, and if someone is letting you draw for free, by all means draw. |
