Full-time playing in California
Hi!
I live in Sweden but have been to Las Vegas three times and been doing so-so. I play fixed limit between $10/20 to $50/100 and some tournaments $100-1000. Every time in LV I hear how fantastic the games in LA are. Is this true? Is it possible to stay close (at??) to Commerce for a couple of months and just grind it out? Maybe some other cities in California are better? Please give me some tips! Thanks. |

Re: Full-time playing in California
You should go to travelocity or orbits and do a search for hotels in Commerce. I found a hotel that was a half mile from Commerce Casino for $50 a night. The poker rate for Commerce is $90 something. Another good thing about Commerce is that food is free if you play 15/30 or higher.

Re: Full-time playing in California
Great info, tyvm!
But I´ve heard the area around the casino is pretty rough, is that true? And is it a place where you would want to stay for a long time, like a month or something? Good thing about the free food! |

[/ QUOTE ] Well, the City of Commerce is almost all industrial, so it's not at all a suburban bedroom community. It's almost completely warehouses, industrial parks, etc. I'm not sure I'd walk around after dark, but there's no need to do so. You drive onto the casino property and when you're done, you drive off. Commerce isn't a city that you can spend much time in for things like eating out, seeing movies, etc. There is an outlet mall, but that's about the limit to the shopping. However, anything you might want to do is within 20 minutes of driving. If you're going to spend more than 30 days here, I'd probably try to find an apartment complex which dealt with short-term renters. I've got to think you could find a place for less than $1500 a month. The Bicycle Casino is a 5-10 minute drive away, and Hawaiian Gardens and Crystal Park are both within 20-25 minutes. |

Re: Full-time playing in California
I didn't think you were allowed to enter California without a car.
