would Dubya make a great poker player?
I read on one of the news sites that President Bush is "an excellent poker player" regarding his Iraq strategy.
Do you think his strategy on Iraq is a good "poker" strategy? I have many disagreements with his approach, even though I do agree with the need to remove Saddam and disarm the country. Comments and flames appreciated. |

I don\'t get the impression that he\'d be patient enough...
Maybe he could be a tourney specialist?

Agreed
He'd be an LAG who tilted quickly, IMO.
To bad he wouldn't be able to consult his railbirds during a hand, then he'd be tough. |

He\'d have to be staked.
Everything he's ever done has been with somebody else's money.

Re: would Dubya make a great poker player?
This is going to sound like a cheap shot, but it really isn't.
Dubya isn't clever enough to be a great poker player, although his having given up booze completely shows he has got discipline, which might make him an OK player. Again, this sounds like a cheap shot, maybe an offensive one, but I honestly believe that Saddam Hussien, whom I loathe, would make an EXCELLENT poker player. His bluffing, his ability to run calculated risks, and his amazing ability to play a weak/hopeless hand and turn it into a winner are astonishing. Again, this message might be misread and possibly offensive to some, but I really believe what I've just typed... - roGER |

Re: would Dubya make a great poker player?
Hi roGER,
I think Saddam is an awful player. He is like a loose agressive who thinks he is tricky. He tries all sort of ridiculous things, which sometimes work, but in the end he takes losses bigger than his wins. He takes his bluffs to far, and can't fold a losing hand. In Kuwait, he waited for his country to be destroyed before giving up, even though it should have be apparent to him that he stood no chance. Currently, he is again trying to make fancy, deceptive plays that will inevitably cost him his position as leader, if not his life. I think Bush wouldn't be a great poker player because of that silly look he gets when he does something smart/figures something out. |

(Glenn sets up the spike)
"I think Bush wouldn't be a great poker player because of that silly look he gets when he does something smart/figures something out." He doesn't lose much to this tell, due to its infrequency. (MS slams it home) MS Sunshine |
