5/10 NL (6max) Nice spot to be in...
On PartyPoker, 5 handed.
I just won a big pot and doubled up, so the players may be a little cautious at the moment. I have 2150 stack, and am UTG. The BB has about the same amount ~2100, button has both of us covered. BB is the main opponent here, I have 1400 hands logged on him and he's very loose pf, and selectively aggressive. I don't know if he's a winning player yet however. I'll say he is okay but not a top player in the game. He's down 3.5k in PT but I've seen him take a couple of bad beats too, and get stacked calling a big overbet with top set vs a made gutshot on the river. I raise 40 utg with 87h, CO folds, Button calls, sb folds, BB calls. 3 to the flop, pot=125 Flop: QdJhJs BB checks, I check, Button checks Turn: 9h BB checks, I check (planning on folding to a bet because this board sucks, and my draw is just a shitty draw to a second best hand). River is the really nice looking Th. The BB leads out for 175 (Pot=125 on the river). Clearly raise, but to what? |

I like a re-overbet (if that is a word), make it $500 to go...Likely villain has a full house and will at least call if not push and of course if he pushes, insta-call.

Making it 650 would be a pot sized raise.

why? [/ QUOTE ] Exactly the question that popped into my head when I read that. Pushing here probably let's him get off of a small boat (and maybe even J's full depending on what he thinks of you). With these stack sizes, I think I like a slightly less than a pot-sized raise, say $500. If he's got a big boat, he'll most likely push himself (and even a min-reraise probably pot-commits anyway), and if he's on a lesser hand, like an A-high flush, he may make a crying call. And if he's on KQh, then your gonna get stacked no matter what. |

When I originally read it, I thought villain had 1K (but you had 2k)
I thought push was > then a raise to like 500 total because anything he could call 500 with he'd call the rest. with 2k raise enough so that qq or qj can push on you. |

Yea your right about the pot size raise...Anyways, I still like raising to $500 cause it gives villain a chance to re-raise with an inferior holding, if not you get good value anyways
