Funny theBruiser500 archive post
[ QUOTE ]
Okay guys, your responses have encouraged me to try the $100 tables again. I should be able to make it there, I just need to stop screwing up. My bankroll is only $180 but here I go. By the way, I won't hold any of you responsible in my mind if I lose that money, I know it's very foolhardy to do this, but whatever - I'm due for some luck. Besides, I'm going to play like a rock, and like Jay said, post a lot more hands because I want to play on the 25/50 UB NL table some day . As I was writing this, I got down to $130, then doubled up with AA vs. KK. Yay! danny [/ QUOTE ] quote dated 11/10/03 Just goes to show ya - all the best players started low (even though we all know it - you dont often get to witness them talking about it), and that with a lot of work a mediocre player can become really good. Also thought it would be interesting for bruiser to read in the same way everyone would have a great laugh when a high school teacher would hand back "goals for the year" papers at the end of the year. |

Re: Funny theBruiser500 archive post
Bruiser, you are my hero.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you build your bankroll from $180 to enough to play $25/50? All cash game winnings? Or did you have a couple big tournament paydays along the way? |

because I want to piss off Spirit Rock on the 25/50 UB NL table some day . [/ QUOTE ] I love it... if only he'd anticipated the name change too, that'd have been unreal. -dB |

Haha Classic Dtbog.
Almost everytime I've watched Sillyhead28 play HU, he has the weaker opponent dominated and making stupid plays. I was watching him play TayNJade last night and Tay was getting owned but the roles reversed. As I'm sure Bruiser knows himself - He could still improve his game and make even more $. Great to see that in a year and a half, $180 ---> over 80k in March winnings. Stats from AAsuited.com Blackjack |

Re: Funny theBruiser500 archive post
Obviously Bruiser owns me (as do a lot of people), but I've also gone from $200 at the 25NL at the end of October to a very sweet March at the 1000NL.
I'm sure anyone with the will to get better can also do this. Keep putting the hours in, go over all the big hands you messed up after every session, and keep reading the gold on here. Cheers you guys. |

04. I had played poker on and off for about a year before, though. This was just when I started to get serious about making some major money out of it.

Re: Funny theBruiser500 archive post
What we can take away from the Bruiser meteoric rise, i believe, is this:
The big game players, got there by: 1. having ability 2. studying 3. taking chances For the longest time, El Diablo and others severely doubted Bruiser's potential. In the face of this, he pressed on and moved up. Even now, when playing prahlad heads up, many (myself included) question his judgement. But he is clearly one of the top NL players. I play primarily the NL 1000 games, sometimes bigger when the game is nice at prima, and I have the BR to make these bigger games my regular game. But I'm not willing to play the UB 25/50 and maybe drop 50k on a tough day. The Bruiser is; that's why were talking about him, and hes a very rich 21 year old (or however old he is). |
