Re: Dell 2405FPW
Here's a review
from review: [ QUOTE ] Now Dell has decided to drop the price bomb. The UltraSharp 2405FPW 24-inch widescreen LCD will cost a measly (by comparison) $1,199. It's the classic Dell approach: Not pioneering a new market or category, but entering it later and at high volume, usually with a significantly lower price. Can a 24-inch LCD flat panel that's under $1,200 measure up to the big boys? We put it on the test bench and on our desk to find out. [/ QUOTE ] |

Still only 4 without overlap, but they'll be bigger...

Re: Dell 2405FPW
Yeah, but with dual monitors, you can have 8 tables and 2 lobby windows without overlap. That's hot.

Re: Dell 2405FPW
If you run this beast at 1600x1200 the tables would definitely be larger... or course you would be giving up the extra pixels though. I was just thinking it might be worth the extra money because the monitor that size would be able to double as a nice TV... i got to figure out the tech aspects of turning an LCD into a tv but i think all you need is a TV tuner card... correct? Anyone know if i would be able to split my cable somehow to turn a dual monitor set up into a dual tv set-up?

Re: Dell 2405FPW
Need help quick. I think you can order this now and I am in the process if I can get a fair price off it. Any ideas what you guys think is fair? I was quoted $1149 we will see if I can get it lower.
Edit to say $1149 was the price I was quoted with free shipping. The customer support, which is usually ok at least was horrendous, I was a bit annoyed and decided not to purchase. I was told the price might not come up on the website for a week or two although you can purchase it now, so the current 10% of sale they show on their site for all monitors doesn't apply since there is no posted price on their site. He also told me it does not apply to widescreen monitors until I explained the 2005FPW 20.1 is being discounted as well. They get their sales agents to say any bs to make the sale which ticks me off. I can understand fully they don't want to discount this monitor but their explanation of the reasons was ludicrous since under the Dell flat panel moitor sale it says take 10% of all other monitors. I was further annoyed that the representative had never even heard about this monitor and it took me five minutes to explain to him they did in fact have a 24" monitor. Heck he works in the monitor department. Please let me know if any of you get a deal on this one. I guess my lesson learned was wait a while before purchasing a new product. I do think btw 1149 is a very fair price and I would be happy to pay it, that was not my beef at all. I will purchase it soon but I make it a point not to buy after getting bad customer service. |
