How to calculate % of getting called by \"x\" range of hands
I just got pokerstove and been exprimenting. but I need to know the odds of opponent having calling hands like
eg) AA-99, AKs, AQs, AKo to fully understand/use those ICM calculations all I know is that odds of you getting any pocket pair is 1/221, and here you have 5 pocket pairs so that would mean 5/221 I'd get called, then I'd have to add AK/AQ etc. and I have no idea where to proceed from here. Please feel free to correct me if I have the wrong idea. thanks |

Re: How to calculate % of getting called by \"x\" range of hands
How many ways are there to be dealt any given pair? Any unsuited non-pair hand? Any suited hand? How many of each of these kinds of hands are there?

Re: How to calculate % of getting called by \"x\" range of hands
I think it was something like 16 ways for non-pair and 8 ways for pair offsuit, and 4 ways for non pair suited hand
so in this example it would be 8 x 6 pairs = 48 ways 4 x 2 non pair suited hand = 8 ways 16 x 1 non pair suited hand = 16 ways so that gives me 72 ways ways to be dealt a calling hand, range is 99~AA, AKs/AQs, AKo. am I doing it right so far? if so, what are the odds of being dealt random hand? if the number was x, would my odd be 72 / x? thanks |

Re: How to calculate % of getting called by \"x\" range of hands
FWIW
There are 6 ways to be dealt a PP There are 4 ways to be dealt two specific suited cards, i.e. AKs There are 12 ways be be dealt two specific off-suit cards, i.e. AKo |

Re: How to calculate % of getting called by \"x\" range of hands
thanks for those numbers, but after I add all the things up, and get
6 x 6 = 36 ways to be dealt 99-AA 4 x 2 = 8 ways to be dealt AK/AQ suited 12 x 1 = 12 ways to de dealt AKo so that's 56 ways to be dealt, but out of what? how do you calculate total ways of being dealt all possible card combination? |

Re: How to calculate % of getting called by \"x\" range of hands
you got 1 chance out of 52 to hit the first card, and then 1 chance out of 51 to hit the second card. 1/52 * 1/51 = 1/2652
so 56/2652 ? this seems very off for some reason |

Re: How to calculate % of getting called by \"x\" range of hands
Go back to this and go from there:
" There are 6 ways to be dealt a PP There are 4 ways to be dealt two specific suited cards, i.e. AKs There are 12 ways be be dealt two specific off-suit cards, i.e. AKo" But do you see why there are 6, 4, and 12 ways to be dealt those hands? |

Re: How to calculate % of getting called by \"x\" range of hands
Pokercalculator is a program similar to PokerStove, that shows you the % of overall hands you have selected when you choose a range of hands.
For example, if you put an opponent on AKo/AKs,QQ,KK,AA, it tells me that that represents 34 total hands or 2.5% of all hands. This program also works for stud and omaha (hi/lo also). I like some features of PokerStove better, but I use this one for the sole purpose of getting the % chance someone has a range of hands, like you mention. |
