Re: Call this Allin?
You're getting better than 2 to 1 so, DEFINITELY... uh... ask Atticus .

Re: Call this Allin?
No!
Use the fish to increase your stack! You WANT it to remain 4 handed here. The other 3 will cautiously pass the blinds back and forth, waiting for one to bust. Your job is to take their blinds, often with any 2 cards. |

Re: Call this Allin?
Good point. I don't think that I mentioned this but this is a step tourney. 1st and 2nd pay the same.

Re: Call this Allin?
Step tourney? That makes a HUGE difference. Just post/fold and eat lunch 'til the game's over. If you're over 3500, this is one of those rare "fold AA pre-flop" scenarios.

The button could have almost anything here, considering hes in desperation mode. So, 6-9 will most likely play better considering that and the money odds given. Even if you lose the hand you will still have a demanding chip lead and can still bully the table. This is almost a free-roll situation. It's a win-win. ps- I just re-read the thread and found out its a step tourney. That does change the thinking a bit. But I still think I call here. This might be a leak of mine, but I feel that even if I lose the hand I will still win the tourney with the amount of chips I have. T5500 gives you some permission to make this call??? don't you think??? |

Re: Call this Allin?
In a regular SNG, this is a fold. In a STEP, it's a FOLD.

Re: Call this Allin?
I'm actually surprised at the posts here: 50/50 to call, although I haven't seen a lot of support for either decision.
My thinking was that the raiser doesn't need a premium hand to make this play. I put him on Ax or Kx. Even if he had AK, I'm getting 2:1 to make the call and I'm slightly better than 35% to win if he has 2 overs, so I'm getting proper odds. In terms of keeping 3 short stacks around, that should have been a consideration. I was in the mode to try and win the tournament, I had won the last 5 pots by going allin preflop. Any thoughts? |
