Sponger\'s Quest
Starting tommorow and ending tommorow night my goal will be to not lose
Sounds simple? However you may not realize how much I suck lately.... I've lost 27 buy ins in 5 days.... 19 @ $100NL and 8 @ $50NL.... In this streak of 8,487 hands I'm losing with hardcore with AKs, AQs, AQo (-$516! How is that humanly possible that once card is 3x more shitty than my 2nd worst losing hand), JJ and KQs. I am also practically breaking even in my last 43 hands with QQ and my KK numbers are WAY below average. Anyways, I will be reporting back to this thread every once in a while to let you know my progress. I don't quite know how many hands I'll play. If I start the day off with a horrible downswing (as expected) I might have to play for a long long time, so we will see how it goes. However if I win early, i might just call it a day and run around my town like a deraged madman on crack because I will be so happy. Wish me luck! |

Re: Sponger\'s Quest
thats not really a very good goal. but i hope you achieve it to get out of a slump. after losing about 200 bucks in 25nl last week im up around 400 this week. the BEST part of poker is recovering from a slump with a huge rush. keep it up and i doubt ak will keep getting beat.

Re: Sponger\'s Quest
haha, well i dont mean its not a good goal in that winning is bad, but that you cant always control it. and not completing a goal you cant control is pretty disheartening sometimes. im still sticking with my 22% 6 handed. you should try moving back to 6max maybe? we could get some 50nl 6max action goin.

Re: Sponger\'s Quest
Sponger-
Don't be so quick to bash super-tight preflop play. At 10-handed 50BB NL, there isn't enough room to get tricky with speculative starting hands. Raise your big pairs and AK in all positions, limp your small pairs in all positions, and play (limp and raise) a few more hands in LP after some limpers. Rinse, repeat, and get paid off. I mean, this is the best way to fight a losing streak, right? Make everything super-ABC. At 10-handed, my VPIP is a bit lower than yours, and I have certainly done well for myself. But this gets boring after a while. Even at 6-max, its not a lot higher, perhaps because I like to seek out games with superLAGs and take all their chips, and its tough to put $ in the pot when they are raising every hand. But I digress... anyway, keep up that good preflop discipline. Its easy to start playing trash when you are running bad. -muz |

Re: Sponger\'s Quest
19 buyins at the 100nl level? That's really harsh, I really hope things swing back up for you because that's a horrible down swing you've taken. Good luck, it'll turn around soon.

Re: Sponger\'s Quest
I don't think 19 buy-ins is variance. I really think that a reexamining of your play might be in order.
FWIW I really like your posts here sponger, and I would be more than happy to look over any and all PT histories you want to share. Not that my advice is great or worth much, but having another perspective might help. |
