15-30, no read, what\'s the default?
Okay 15 game on Party.
Cutoff openlimps, SB completes, I check w/ A7o. Flop A-J-4 two diamonds, I have the 7d. SB bets out, I raise (which I was unsure about) and the CO 3-bets it. SB folds, I call. Turn is an offsuit 5. I check and fold. Thoughts? |

Absent player notes, you made best ev play. In a live game I call down to get a read on the guy. Online, it's probably not worth it.

Don't you think that the cutoff makes the same play with a flush draw here? With no other information, this seems a more likely than a bigger ace.

I'd call it down assuming the flush doesn't get there. Do you remember which card wasn't a diamond? If it was the J, this could easily be JTs with a flush draw.

Re: 15-30, no read, what\'s the default?
I have to agree with Steveyz on this one, I think CO would probably come in raising with any ace, though he could have been slowplaying a big hand preflop hoping to get some action. Though IMO most party 15 players who openlimp especially in later position have hands that justify their action...not a whole lot. My guess is your opponent had something like some rag diamonds and may have flopped a pair as well or is just looking to jam the pot now having 2 people in there.

My worst advice ever
I'm not sure if I misread the post and thought a diamond came on the turn or if I was just half asleep, but you can't fold the turn here. If a diamond hit the turn, I'd fold. As the hand is though, I'm seeing a showdown.

RH [/ QUOTE ] If the range of hands you are against is either beat against Ax (high value for x) or against the fllush draw, him having the flush draw can be more likely than Ax and you should still fold. See why? |

I like betting the turn here and folding to a raise. Am I crazy?

Re: 15-30, no read, what\'s the default?
You should call this down. He could have just a flush draw or a smaller pair and flush draw. I have even seen poeple do this with just a J or 4. There are other hands I could see him having also that you beat.
Why are you unsure about the raise? That's a fairly coordinated board, and given the shorthanded nature of the hand your opponents aren't going to immediately put you on an ace. -Ezcheeze |
