Turning Stone question
I dont know upstate NY at all. My wife wants to do a fall "leaf watching" trip, and I want to play poker. Does anybody know whether the area around Turning Stone casino upstate would make for a good leaf-watching trip this fall?
Thanks. |

Re: Turning Stone question
Central Park is even closer, and they have leaves.

Re: Turning Stone question
Turning Stone would be a good place to stay. The Adirondack Park is maybe 30 minutes north and that is prime leaf peeping territory. At T-Stone itself not many leafs but if your going to be forced to see leaves you should stay at a casino in exchange.
If you like trains there is a railroad excursion out of Utica, NY not too far that goes through lots of wilderness to old forge in the adirondacks. They have special fall foliage trips. The wife and I took one last year and it was excellent. Orange |

Re: Turning Stone question
eh, wait till the leaves start to turn
Take 17 out of the monroe harriman area (after cruisin through the bear mtn park), and roll out towards binghampton then 81 north towards syracuse 17-81 is a really nice drive. It is highway, but be all like, look at the leaves and make me a sandwich missy! |

Re: Turning Stone question
Prospect Park is much preferable to Central Park. More dogs, more fun, less obnoxious.

Re: Turning Stone question
Yes - of course wait for fall..hehe
17 is definitely a good leaf peeping road and 81 between binghampton and syracuse has soem nice views especially when it rides up high on the hills before Syracuse. Orange |

Re: Turning Stone question
there are a lot of parks with waterfalls and trails south of Syracuse just a few minutes out of the city. When you are done looking at leaves, you can go eat at Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse which is a close second to a night of poker
