225 lbs. x 50 times in 10 minutes
I was watching the episode with Ted Forrest's bet about the 225 bench press 50 times in one day with some friends and we got to talking about it and I said that I bet I could do it 50 times in 10 minutes. They all roundly agreed that I could not, and so, for a wager of 100 dollars from each of them I will attempt to bench press 225 50 times in ten minutes this afternoon. I will keep you updated. I am not REALLY confident about, but I think I will be able to do it. I am 6'1", 220 pounds, 22 years old. I can rep 225 probably 12 or 13 times in one set, but obviously the second set I am not going to get that many and so on. We'll see.

You will have trouble breaking 30. Not enough time to rest between sets.

Re: 225 lbs. x 50 times in 10 minutes
If you can rep 225 12 or 13 times for your first set, you are going to have a very hard time completing 50 reps in ten minutes. Reason being, you will probably only get 5 reps per set from that point on. I think your best choice is to not go to failute on your first set and just do sets of 8 with recovery time in between.

Re: 225 lbs. x 50 times in 10 minutes
Your best bet here is to offer a buy out of 25 dollars each, and get them to let you out of the bet. If there good friends they will. My friend and I do this often with prop bets such as this. If you wanna be sneaky, max out your first set and try and make it look as easy as possible, then when resting after that offer THEM the buyout chance for say 40-50 each as it was SOOOO easy to do that first set, they may buy into it. If not then try the 25 buy out offer to them instead....

I hate this bet because its dumb. If you bet dumb, that is unsafe. I hate it when you bet because everytime you reach for your wallet you are dangerous. Your ego is writing checks your body can't cash.
The plaque for the runner up is down in the ladies room. I fully expect you to crash and burn. |
