Re: What is your rent?
since equity doesnt acrue until after several years, you have to be planning on living in the house for a long time for buying to be worth it. if a person plans to move within a couple of years he is much better off renting. there is also fear of the bubble-burst, and if renters hold off on buying now and instead buy after the market crashes, they will have made far more than their equity loss by renting instead of buying. there are theorists who predict 40% housing depreciation in many areas after the burst, if there is one of course.

[/ QUOTE ] one is my "office", one is where I sleep, and the other one just has junk in the closet and I use for when people visit me. Basically I dont need a 3bdrm, the extra room is nice, but I picked this place because its right next (like 50 yards) to South Mountain, and there arent any smaller places in the area. |

Re: What is your rent?
Just got a house in Derby, CT. 1 hour from NYC and 15 min from New Haven.
Really nice place next to Roselands Apizza. Paying 1,200 split among three guys for a multifamily house. Utlilities for TV, internet, bills, NFL sunday ticket, etc come to 300 So I pay 500 for everything and get my own room, kitchen, nice living room, attic, basement. The person who lived here before us caught the place on fire so carpet is brand news, walls freshly painted, etc. Ok I'll stop rambling, just moved in two months ago still really excited we got it for this price. |

Re: What is your rent?
$925/mo water/trash included
1br/1ba, about 700sqft with a nice balcony, 2nd floor. I live in Azusa, CA, which is a suburb about 50 miles NE of downtown L.A. I love this complex, it's very well maintained, and since the surrounding area is mostly commercial and industrial buildings, at nighttime the streets are empty and it's pretty quiet, which is great. |
