I like the PILE DRIVER.
But it seems like everytime I go there, it's a Sausagefest. |

Re: favorite nyc bar?
Is that the Temple of Beer Worship that is down the street from McSorley's? I lived in that neighborhood for years and never went there.
I don't really love bars, but the ones I have had the most fun in are Red Rock West, The Stoned Crow, Paddy Reilly's, and that dive on east 7th. |

Re: favorite nyc bar?
I like the 3rd Ave. trio of Bar None, Nevada Smith's and Finnerty's. Acme on Great Jones and Lafayette is good because I can take underage friends there without fear of them being carded and I pay for half of what a drink. Fitzgerald's, as mentioned by Tony Paladino is a favorite. Apple on Waverly is a good place to go with girls or if you're just looking for a more upscale lounge type place. Joise Woods, well, because I think you're required to put in a minimum number of hours per week there if you go to NYU.
Also, it's not really a bar, but Kenka on St. Mark's has lots of cheap beer and and Japansese food. I go there just to drink sometimes, so I think it fits in this thread. That's where I do most of my drinking. EDIT: I also like Cedar on University and the Mexican place down the block (El Cantinero, I think) has a good happy hour. |

Re: favorite nyc bar?

you know what was the classic, great peter luger of bars? the old gramercy park hotel bar. the dudes in green coats, etc. it was great. then they gutted it and turned it into some terrible faux hipster joint. [/ QUOTE ] Correction. Ian Schrager gutted the whole building, they are converting it into condos, and the owner of Hakasan (best Chinese food in London, also mega-hip) is opening a restaurant there. Re: favorite nyc bar?
I like Sweetups and Pour House a lot, but Barcade is my favorite period. International Bar closed, which is a damn shame. I'm fond of HiFi too, but more so on their slow nights. In fact, I prefer all of these places on their slow nights.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, I forgot one of my favorite places is Angel's Share upstairs and behind a Japanese restaurant adjacent to St. Marks books. |
