Anyone who says fold before the river is totally insane. [/ QUOTE ] Only 54% totally insane though. GoT |

[ QUOTE ] Hero isn't drawing... he has the best hand right now. [/ QUOTE ] if we have 30% chance of winning we clearly don't have the best hand now. [/ QUOTE ] Um, wrong. A-high beats 9-high. Hero has the best hand. Adam |

[/ QUOTE ] Don't be a nit; the meaning of the statement is clear. [/ QUOTE ] it's clear but also wrong we are definitely drawing to safe outs here. it's an important distinction, I think. IMO the person I was responding to was being a nit. and don't call me a nit |

Re: An interesting sitituation .....
I guess this was't as interesting as I first thought it was. Then again, I see the problem has tripped up some long-time posters, so perhaps it is.
I think the reason I find this interesting is that: * we usually consider equity when deciding whether to bet or raise. * we usually consider pot odds when deciding whether to call or fold. * In this situation, it seem we are using equity to decide whether or not to call - kind of a unique situation, imo, and I'm not entirely sure how to get my head around it. * we usually consider pot odds when deciding whether to call or fold. [/ QUOTE ] when we do this, we are comparing the pot odds to our equity, right? so it's really not that different. I think you are getting hung up on the fact that your hand is "best". I think Ed Miller (or someone) recently wrote an article/post about flopped straights "drawing" to non-outs (i think the specific situation was against a set/2pair made hand and a flush draw) |

Adam [/ QUOTE ] Easy call. It is interesting to look at. Especially if you replace the J with a 2. The A2 is now stronger, but basically still in the same spot. Reminds me of a hand I post every once in a blue moon. The KQs vs JTd and the flop is Js Ts 4. Then you turn a pair for the KQs (4, K or Q) However, I kind of like yours a little better as it's a little sneakier to look at. b |

Re: An interesting sitituation .....
It hasn't tripped me up. You are getting 3:1 on a 2.3:1 bet. It's a non-debatable equity problem. Also, since you can "see" his cards, it's even easier because you don't have to call the turn when he improves there, so your odds are actually much better - but I don't feel like figuring out how much better
