Re: poker dies then what?
[ QUOTE ]
The worse thing that could happen is it drops out of the general media spot light, that would reduce the number of new players coming in but can you see anyone here dropping poker? Like I said worse case less players, less sites but still plenty to get your fix online or off. [/ QUOTE ] Poker does rely on a balance between professionals and gamblers, so this is a concern if the boom crashes and the balance is upset. |

Re: poker dies then what?
[ QUOTE ]
Difference Between Poker and Other Fads: Poker is addicting. Once people get seriously involved with playing, they usually play at least semi-frequently most of their lives. Also, the game has a lot of dimensions which make it very interesting, unlike something like a "snap bracelet" which gets boring quickly. Also, don't forget...poker games were plenty good before this explosion. They are just even better now. Jeff [/ QUOTE ] Let's also remember that poker really isn't a fad at all. Before the "poker boom", tens of millions of people in the US played in weekly or regular home games. This explosion in popularity and TV coverage has been a long time coming...all it took was the hole cam. |

Re: poker dies then what?
1. The Internet
2. Money 3. People I don't think poker is going to die in the next 100 years. Are you going to be alive in 100 years? If the answer is yes, maybe you really should get a degree and some job security for the poker crash of 2105. |

Re: poker dies then what?
I see an end to poker - easy - happens all the time - backgammon was red hot for a while, Poker will be around for a long time, perhaps not Hold'm but some sort of gambling - I give it 10 to 15 years.
All it takes is one electro magnetic pulse and online hold'm is dead. ALMOST happened in 1999 between India and Pakistan DEMON close. |

Re: poker dies then what?
[ QUOTE ]
Because everyone stopped playing blackjack and craps. IN fact, Vegas is just about dead. Damn. [/ QUOTE ] I'm guessing this is a joke post :P, if it were true that other games are suffering because of poker, Vegas would quickly adapt, making the poker rooms bigger (which they do seem to be doing). |
