I'd say limit is easier to learn for many because you have less options. The more analytical players are drawn to it because it's more like math. I think people who initally take to NL more easily may like the feel of the game a little more. You can stretch out more playing more hands and you have more control.

Dan Harrington says that the expert player has more of an advantage in NL because 1)he can make superior deductions about what the other players are holding by the way they bet (among other things) and 2)he can adjust the pot odds more accurately to make others make mistakes.

Switching between both is +EV because you can take the skills you learn from one game to the other.
